This policy explains what we collect when you use seabirdresearch.org and its forum, and why. Last updated September 2026.

What we collect

• Account details: your email address, username and password. Your password is stored securely by our authentication provider in a form we cannot read.
• What you post: threads, replies and reports, with their dates.
• Technical data: our hosting providers keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses, for security and reliability.

Browsing the website without an account does not require any personal information. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Signing in stores a session token in your browser so you stay signed in.

How we use it

• To run your account and show your posts under your username. Your email address is never shown publicly.
• To keep the forum safe: posts are checked by an automated moderator and, when needed, by a person.
• To send account emails, such as confirmation and password reset messages.

Services we use

• Supabase: stores forum accounts and posts, and handles sign-in.
• Anthropic (Claude): reviews the text of new posts for spam and rule-breaking. Post text and your username are sent for this check.
• Resend: sends account and moderation emails.
• GitHub Pages: hosts the website.

We do not sell your information.

Your choices

You can ask us to correct or delete your account and posts at any time by writing to info@seabirdresearch.org from the email address on your account.

Children

The forum is for people aged 13 and older. If you believe a younger child has created an account, please contact us and we will remove it.
